This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies HolyDocs uses on our marketing site (holydocs.com) and dashboard (app.holydocs.com), why we use them, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website you visit. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixel tags, and software development kits embedded in mobile or desktop applications. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to remember preferences, and to provide analytics.
Cookies set by HolyDocs domains are first-party cookies. Cookies set by a third-party domain (for example, an embedded video provider) are third-party cookies. HolyDocs avoids third-party cookies wherever possible.
Categories of Cookies We Use
Essential
Required to deliver the Service. They are used for authentication, session management, cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protection, and remembering your cookie consent choices. Essential cookies do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive and are always enabled.
Analytics
Help us understand how the dashboard and marketing site are used so we can improve the product. In jurisdictions that require prior consent (such as the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), we do not set analytics cookies until you accept them through the cookie banner. Outside those jurisdictions, you can still opt out at any time using the cookie banner or by enabling the Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.
Functional
Remember small preferences such as your theme and last-used sign-in provider. These cookies make the Service more pleasant to use; if you disable them, the Service will still work but may forget your preferences between visits.
Marketing
HolyDocs does not currently set marketing or advertising cookies and does not use cross-site tracking. If this changes, we will update this Policy and prompt for consent before any new marketing cookie is set.
Cookie Inventory
The table below lists the cookies HolyDocs may set. Some cookies are only set in specific contexts (for example, analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the EEA).
| Name | Purpose | Expiry | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
better-auth.session_token | Authenticated session for the dashboard; signs you in across pages. | 30 days | Essential |
better-auth.csrf | Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protection for state-changing requests. | Session | Essential |
holydocs.theme | Remembers your light or dark mode preference. | 1 year | Functional |
holydocs.last_provider | Remembers the OAuth provider you last used (GitHub or Google) to speed up sign-in. | 6 months | Functional |
holydocs.consent | Stores your cookie consent choices so the banner does not reappear. | 12 months | Essential |
ph_* | PostHog product analytics: anonymous visitor and session identifiers used to understand how the dashboard is used. | 12 months | Analytics |
plausible_ignore | Optional opt-out cookie set by Plausible for HolyDocs staff and contributors who want their visits excluded from analytics. | 5 years | Analytics |
Managing Your Preferences
You can manage your cookie preferences in two ways:
- Cookie banner. When you first visit a HolyDocs site from a jurisdiction that requires consent, a banner appears asking you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can reopen the banner at any time via the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer.
- Support widget. The RogerIQ support widget exposes a quick shortcut to reset your cookie consent and revisit your choices.
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT) signals. If either signal is enabled in your browser, we will treat it as a withdrawal of consent for analytics and disable non-essential cookies.
Browser Settings
Most browsers let you view, manage, delete, and block cookies for any website. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in to the dashboard. Browser-specific instructions:
Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in applicable law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date and, where the change is material, prompt for consent again through the cookie banner.
